Even if you have a busy schedule, volunteering is still an option. With the technology available, participation is not a major time commitment. Many groups use conference calls, e-mail and other technologies to facilitate communications.

Emerging Leaders Alliance
Members of ELA are up-and-coming leaders with seven years or less experience in the CPA profession.  This advisory body meets twice annually along with the INCPAS Leadership Cabinet, and its members serve as advocates for the CPA profession, effective communicators to peers, and active volunteers in Society outreach.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and professional learning
  • Create opportunities to develop skills that will serve the profession and employers
  • Engage other new professionals
  • Move the profession forward through thoughtful feedback to Society leadership 

Leadership Cabinet
The Society's Leadership Cabinet is a demographic representation of approximately one percent of the organization's membership.  The group meets two times per year and serves as a guiding coalition of leaders who provide valuable feedback to the INCPAS Board of Directors and staff on issues and trends that affect the CPA profession.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support and promote Society initiatives and the CPA profession
  • Receive and review information on current issues and keep abreast of new developments affecting CPAs
  • Provide broad-based input and feedback on programs, services and policies, and legislative, legal and professional issues
  • Be an advocate of the CPA designation

Committees
Experienced volunteers are sought for the following committees. Approval from the Board of Directors is required for appointment.

Ethics
Mission Statement: To promote the ethical practice of the CPA profession through educational and enforcement activities.

Main Projects:
  • Reviews and investigates ethics cases.
  • Develops policy and Procedures manual.
  • Responds to exposure drafts referred to the committee.

Number of meetings per year: Four

Peer Review
Mission Statement: To effectively administer the AICPA Peer Review and PCPS programs in the state of Indiana.

Main Projects:
  • Acts as a Report Acceptance Body for peer reviews of Indiana firms following AICPA guidelines.
  • Monitors and reviews technical review and administrative process to document internal or informal operational guidelines followed by RAB, technical reviewers and INCPAS staff.
  • Maintains representation at AICPA Peer Review Conferences.

Number of meetings per year: Seven (four half-day meetings and three teleconference meetings)

Project Teams
Project teams are action groups that implement a specific assignment with a clear goal and established time frame. Once the objective is completed, the project team naturally dissolves. Project teams allow members to step forward for a short period of time and share their knowledge and expertise in a particular area. Members may choose to participate via various methods, such as teleconference and electronically using e-mail or web site discussion forums.

By joining a project team, members help to identify relevant topics, select speakers and host the conference or event.

Special Interest Groups
Special interest groups act as advisors to and/or representatives of the Society and the membership on specific issues. These groups consider what is happening within their area of responsibility and recommend if action should be taken by the Society. Some groups may meet in person, via conference call and/or web site discussion forums to analyze issues and identify possible courses of action.

Knowledge Networks
Knowledge Networks are very informal, facilitated 2-hour sessions designed to provide knowledge sharing among CPAs. These sessions are approved for CPE credit and the cost is minimal. Facilitators are needed to develop and lead Knowledge Networks around the state in various topic areas. Some current topics are:

  • Construction
  • Tax
