2008 Case Study Competition Recap
University of Southern Indiana five-peats at the INCPAS 2008 Case Study Competition
A challenging four weeks for some of Indiana's best and brightest
college accounting students concluded on Friday, Oct. 17 at CPA
Celebration as the winners were announced for the 9th annual Case Study
Competition. The University of Southern Indiana found themselves
victorious in the first place position for a fifth year in a row.
This year's competition brought together 10 case study teams
comprised of four undergraduate students and one faculty advisor that
presented their case on succession planning for a fictitious firm. Once
prepared, the written portion of the case was reviewed and judged and
the top six teams - announced as finalists - were required to give an
oral presentation to a panel of judges in an effort to support their
written report statement.
IUPUI took second place honors while Purdue University Calumet rounded out the top three in this year's competition.
Honorable mention finalists this year included Manchester, Saint Mary's College and Valparaiso University.
Students won $1,000 each for first, $750 for second, $500 for third
and $100 each for all honorable mention teams. All 32 Indiana colleges
and universities with accounting programs are invited each year to
participate.
