For over a century, the Indiana CPA Society has been your voice at the statehouse and on Capitol Hill.
As the leading advocates for the profession in the state, we build and leverage relationships with key decision makers, track and respond to critical legislation and work to protect the interests of CPAs across Indiana and beyond.
Through the Indiana CPA-PAC, we support state political candidates who align with INCPAS’ views on policies that directly impact the profession.
Our goal? Preserving the integrity of the license and the profession while also supporting a strong, thriving workforce and business environment in our state.
Meet Sherrill
Sherrill Rude, CAE, is your connection to INCPAS advocacy efforts. As the Vice President – Advocacy, Sherrill works with our Government Relations Advisory Council (GRAC), Tax Resource Advisory Council (TRAC) and our lobbyist to shape our legislative agenda and track key legislative developments. She has over 30 years of experience in association leadership and joined the INCPAS team in 2007.
Advocacy Successes
Guided by our yearly legislative agenda, INCPAS is committed to lobbying efforts that support, protect and advance the profession. We’re also focused on keeping our members up-to-date on legislative issues like emerging bills and policies that directly impact your work.
Our advocacy successes wouldn’t be possible without our members who serve in advocacy-related roles, including the Government Relations Advisory Council (GRAC) and Tax Resource Advisory Council (TRAC), and our Indiana-CPA PAC trustees. In addition, we rely on the work of our CPA Advocates and members who help contact their local representatives and stay in the know of the latest advocacy-related developments.
Recent Advocacy Successes
- The passage and signing of House Enrolled Act 1143, making Indiana one of the first of 10 states to adopt an additional pathway to CPA licensure.
- Support of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency’s efforts to improve services to licensees through personnel and technology upgrades.
- Saved Indiana taxpayers millions of dollars by fast-tracking and enacting a state pass-through entity tax while mitigating retroactive impact on CPAs in the middle of tax season.
- Weighed in on AICPA’s and NASBA’s task forces exploring alternative pathways to CPA licensure.
- Safeguard against ongoing threats to licensed professions.
