Get to know Corbin Miller, CPA, CGMA, and see what he plans to accomplish this year as INCPAS Chair.

What are you most looking forward to this year as INCPAS Chair?

Collaborating with board members and Society leadership as we discuss our rapidly evolving profession and the Society’s role in this transformation. The diversity of the board, combined with the experience and knowledge of the Society’s leadership team, will certainly lead to productive conversations. I am also looking forward to hearing what is on the minds of members during the town halls.

What would you like to accomplish this year?

I think anyone who steps into the Chair role is first and foremost focused on advancing the initiatives previously started under the current three-year strategic plan. While the staff at the Society does a great job of carrying out these initiatives, it is important that the board continues to look forward and determine if any internal or external factors create a need to pivot or alter course. This year the board is focused on reviewing how the Society does business and evaluating the risks and opportunities present in this changing environment. My goal for this year is that we collectively determine a path forward that ensures the Society will remain uniquely positioned to deliver on its mission while connecting professionals throughout their careers, protecting the CPA designation and developing current and future CPAs.

How did you become involved with INCPAS?

When I joined the Insight Accounting Group team, Matt Pletcher, the managing partner at the time, was passionate about the Society and made sure I immediately became a member. He encouraged me to attend CPE and networking events hosted by INCPAS. Not long thereafter, Insight had the opportunity to participate in the formation of the Genesis Group (a network of eight firms strategically located throughout Indiana so we do not directly compete with each other). INCPAS played a key role in facilitating the formation and growth of the Genesis Group which has opened my eyes to all of the resources they provide to members.

What’s your advice for members wanting to get involved with the Society?

Don’t wait! Everyone is busy and there is never a perfect time to start something new. Trust me, you will be thankful you did.

Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?

I’m usually traveling around with my wife to watch our boys play lacrosse. We have grown to love the game but more importantly, I love spending this time with my family and watching our boys grow into the young men I am so proud of. I also enjoy building things and trying to play decent golf.

My goal for this year is that we collectively determine a path forward that ensures the Society will remain uniquely positioned to deliver on its mission.
