CPA Celebration

INCPAS AWARD NOMINATIONS

The Society's annual awards program is your opportunity to recognize outstanding individual CPAs or companies.

The nominees chosen by the Award Selection Committee will be honored at CPA Celebration on May 8, 2020 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom and spotlighted in PR efforts leading up to the event.

Nomination deadline is December 13.

Nominees must be a member or member organization; individuals must have a CPA license.



Building Bridges to the Profession

This award is given to an individual or firm committed to building and diversifying the talent pipeline. Nominee can be in any area of practice or education.


Examples include innovative recruitment techniques, diversity promotion, mentorship programs, educational initiatives, staff training and/or being an advocate for career change professionals.

 

2019 Winner: Trevor K. Gregory, CPA, Manager - PwC

Trevor Gregory is actively involved with his firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. As a manager, he represents minorities in staffing, performance and compensation discussions to ensure there are no blind spots in the organization, and he encourages younger staff to get involved with INCPAS diversity programs. He serves on an advisory committee for PwC, through which he promotes diversity and inclusion to leaders of its national audit practice. He further helps with recruitment efforts in Indiana, with a focus on Indiana University where he serves as a mentor and judge for the Diversity Case Study Competition. He is a former INCPAS Scholar mentor and attended the first INCPAS Diversity Summit.

 



Community Service

This award recognizes both individuals and firms for outstanding service to the Society, CPA profession and community over a long period of time. Up to five recipients may be chosen. Nominees:


  • Must have made significant contributions to the community and CPA profession.
  • Must have a long history of community service involvement.
  • Can be in any area of practice or education.



 

2019 Winners: Sarah L. Hunter, CPA, Supervisor - Rodefer Moss & Co., PLLC, Daniel Smogor, CPA, CGMA, Tax Partner - Kruggel Lawton CPAs, and Barry W. Wertz, CPA, Founder & Partner - Wertz & Co., P.C., CPAs.

 

Emerging Leaders

This award recognizes up-and-coming leaders of the profession. Up to five recipients may be chosen. Nominees:


  • Must demonstrate leadership or initiative within the profession.
  • Must have made significant contributions to the overall success of his/her employer.
  • Must be 34 years of age or under on December 31, 2018.
  • Can be in any area of practice or education.



2019 Winners: Brent W. Barton, CPA, Tax Manager - CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, Ashley N. Christie, CPA, Director of Real Estate Tax Services - Katz Sapper & Miller, LLP, Christina M. Devine, CPA, Owner - Devine CPA & Co., Amy M. Northard, CPA, Owner - Amy Northard, CPA., and Annmarie Novotney, CPA, Audit Senior Manager - Blue & Co., LLC.



Innovation

This award recognizes a transformative individual or firm implementing unique, forward-thinking activities designed to address future issues and needs. Nominee can be in any area of practice or education.


Examples include significant changes in operations, corporate culture, staff development and retention, technology and/or billing practices.

 

2019 Winner: Kevin Huston, CPA

Kevin Huston teaches financial and managerial accounting, managerial finance and auditing at the Clark H. Byrum School of Business. He recently pioneered a new curriculum on integrated reporting, in which his students create a report for the university and present it to the Board of Trustees. INCPAS involvement includes the Advocacy Task Force, CPA Advocate, CPA Center of Excellence® Online Beta Forum Community, Educational Foundation Board, Educator Practitioner Symposium Group, Educators Conference Project Team, High School Ambassadors, Indiana CPA-PAC Trustees and Leadership Cabinet. In addition to serving on many internal Marian University initiatives and committees, his external community involvement includes the American Diabetes Association – Indiana Affiliate, Indiana Financial Literacy Coalition and consultant to Indiana State Board of Accounting on continuing professional education rules.
