Virtual Live CPE: FAQs

 

What is a VIRTUAL LIVE event?

A VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar is a seminar or conference that is held on an online platform using an Internet browser, allowing you to earn LIVE CPE from wherever you are.

 

How do I earn CPE credit from attending a VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar?

During the VIRTUAL LIVE event, there will be a series of polling questions or keywords that will pop up on your screen. When you answer these polling questions or submit all the keywords at the end of the VIRTUAL LIVE event, we are able to track your attendance for the duration of the VIRTUAL LIVE event to calculate your CPE credit. You must answer 3 polling questions/keywords per credit hour to receive full credit. Partial credit is only given after the first full hour is completed.

 

Are there any specific requirements needed to attend a VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar?

All you need is a device that has an Internet browser (desktop, laptop or tablet) and a reliable Internet connection to login into the online platform. You can listen to audio through your device or use a dial-in number and listen on your phone. We will send you information to make sure your system is up-to-date and compatible with the online platform requirements.

 

Have reporting requirements changed, as a result of COVID-19?

As of today, the current reporting cycle is set to end on Dec. 31, 2020, and reporting requirements are the same. You’ll still be expected to have your 120 hours which includes your 12 hours of A&A and 4 hours of Ethics.

Will the Society hold in-person events this year and what is the plan moving forward?

Regrettably, no in-person seminars or conferences will be held in calendar year 2020. We look forward to the day we can welcome you back safely. In the meantime, CPE events through July 31 have already been moved to a VIRTUAL LIVE environment and are reflected on our online catalog. We are in the process of rescheduling the remainder of the year and hope to have this complete and available on our online catalog by mid-June.

 

If you’re rescheduling courses for the entire year, what’s the best way for me to plan?

Please continue to register for courses found in our online catalog. If a date change is required, we will notify you and automatically change your enrollment date. If that date doesn’t work for you, we are happy to cancel or change your registration with no fee.

 

The class I enrolled in has become VIRTUAL LIVE, do I need to do anything?

You will receive an email from Christina Pristasch (cpristasch@incpas.org) alerting you to the change and providing next steps. We will also provide you with further instructions on how to attend the VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar, to make sure your system is compatible with the online platform, and share our contact information if you have technical difficulties.

 

You moved the date of my course and I can no longer attend, what now?

We are trying to keep our most popular titles on the most popular dates; however, if a course is altered and you can no longer attend, you are able to exchange your registration for another similarly priced seminar or request a refund—no fees associated.

 

If the event is VIRTUAL LIVE, how will I receive my materials?

Luckily, INCPAS went paperless with all events last year! When you register, your confirmation will include a link to your materials and instructions on how to attend the VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar, which will be posted 7 days prior to the event date. Reminders will be sent both 3 and 5 days out. If you don’t receive your messages, you may also access your materials via My Account or by contacting Member Services at (317) 726-5000.

 

When and how will I receive my CPE attendance letter?

You will receive your attendance confirmation for a VIRTUAL LIVE event/webinar within two weeks of the event via email. After that time you can also access your attendance confirmation by logging in to your account at incpas.org. Click on My Account/My Attendance Confirmations/Print My Attendance Confirmations and Receipts.

 

How am I supposed to meet my CPE requirements if your events are all virtual?

All events in our catalog count as LIVE CPE. The ways in which our VIRTUAL LIVE events/webinars are delivered meet the necessary requirements to be considered LIVE CPE.

 

Do VIRTUAL LIVE events/webinars count as LIVE CPE or Self-Study?

VIRTUAL LIVE events/webinars count for LIVE CPE. They DO NOT count as Self-Study. These events are scheduled at a specific date and time and the instructors are available to answer your questions in real-time, just as if you were sitting in a classroom setting.
