A Family Affair: INCPAS Scholars Become Role Models for Siblings – Shase & Aleena

Feb 4, 2019
In addition to the Alvarez family (see full feature story), eight other families have participated in the Scholars program. We asked a few of those families about their experiences with the program.

Shase & Aleena

Shase

The Scholars program helped me figure out that accounting was truly the right fit for me. I would be pleased to help anyone in making that decision about their future job. I helped my younger sister Aleena by pushing her to look into accounting programs like INCPAS Scholars. I plan to get her involved in some Kelley programs as well.

The best part about Aleena going through this program is seeing her start to look into her future and take more responsibility. I am most proud of her for achieving amazing grades at a challenging high school that pushes her to want greatness.

Aleena

I consider Shase a huge role model in my life. He always encourages me to work harder and face my fears. His advice is very special to me because I know he wants the best for me. I also admire him for being so confident and hardworking.

Shase loved the Scholars program and would always tell me how great it was. I would not have known about it if it wasn’t for him. He knew I wanted to go into business and knew I wasn’t really sure when it came to what career in business. Shase also told me the program is a great way to make connections with people who may be able to help me in the future.

Iram, Shase & Aleena's Mother

As siblings, Shase and Aleena are greatly impacted by each other. They look to each other for guidance, encouragement and support. When Shase decided to study accounting it opened that possibility for Aleena. He encouraged her to apply to the Scholars program because he knew it would expose her to the accounting field, as well as expose her to local businesses and college opportunities. As Aleena decides what she wants to pursue in college she will continue to seek advice from her older brother.
