Ask the Alumni: Gabrielle N. Carter

Nov 13, 2019
INCPAS Scholar Alumna Gabrielle N. Carter discusses the importance of continuing education once she becomes a CPA.

Q: You are preparing to enter the CPA profession, a profession of lifelong learning. How do you expect to learn and obtain knowledge in the future?

Gabrielle CarterThe best way to learn new things is to gain the experiences hands-on. It’s easy for someone to tell you how to do something, but actually trying it yourself and learning from your mistakes and successes can be an easy way to put yourself ahead of your peers.

The CPA profession offers a lot of opportunity for growth and advancement, which is one reasons I am working toward my accounting degree and license. I plan to take on any leadership opportunities I am offered, so I can develop communication and leaderships skills needed to succeed in the profession. I hold high expectations for myself and I always look for new opportunities to be challenged.

INCPAS Scholars is an award-winning, free program that encourages students to consider becoming a CPA. The only program of its kind, INCPAS Scholars introduces students to the profession by pairing them with practicing CPAs, touring CPA firms and businesses that employ CPAs, and participating in events to immerse them in the profession.
