Get to know Lisa Tressler, CPA, and see what she hopes to accomplish in her year as INCPAS Chair.
What are you most excited about as you embark on your year as INCPAS Chair?
I am excited to watch the evolution of our profession. The old workpaper notation of “SALY” (same as last year) no longer applies to how we are going to successfully operate within our businesses. INCPAS has a strategic plan in place that is ready to embrace the various changes as they come along, and I have seen our staff in action to make sure the plan is executed in a dynamic manner. They are the BEST, and our Board is privileged to work alongside them.
What do you hope to accomplish this year?
I hope I can successfully foster achieving our strategic goals. We are hyper focused on the accounting pipeline, innovation and belonging. We want to be sure our profession remains relevant and demonstrate our value as CPAs in an ever-changing landscape. We must continue to grow our pipeline through workforce development efforts, with a special emphasis on underrepresented populations. Fostering strategic alliances with firms, other state boards, educators and leaders in our profession to share best practices and ideas is of particular interest to me, as I am very much a “people person” and love to engage with others.

How did you become involved with INCPAS?
Initially, I attended continuing education sessions INCPAS offered. Then, INCPAS put together Genesis and that was a pivotal moment in my desire to become more involved. Genesis is a group of similar-sized CPA firms from around Indiana. We get together multiple times each year to share best practices and thoughts on the profession. The relationships, network of peers and friendships I developed during my firm’s participation over the last 13 years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
What is your favorite memory of being an INCPAS member?
It’s hard to pinpoint ONE favorite, but several of my favorite memories of being an INCPAS member relate to attending CPA Celebration. It is so encouraging to see the future of our profession in person when the CPA Exam candidates walk across the stage. It is rewarding to hear the success stories of those nominated for various awards and learn how their journey is making an impact in their own communities.
When you’re not working or volunteering, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I LOVE to be with my family. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Pete, for 40 years, and we have three wonderful children who have blessed us with five perfect grandchildren. We enjoy being outside, working in the yard/flower beds and also playing golf in a couple’s league. We spend a large portion of our free time following the three older grandkids in their multiple sporting events, where I AM the crazed fan in the stands. I also enjoy our weekly date night at the local Mexican restaurant.
