INCPAS is pleased to introduce four new members to its board for 2025–26. Get to know them below.
Jose Castro, CPA, CIA
Associate Director – Protiviti
Jose is an associate director at Protiviti, where he has been since 2019. Prior, he was a consulting senior staff at Crowe LLP. He graduated from Purdue University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In the community, he serves as a corporate advisory board member to ALPFA Indianapolis and as treasurer for IIA Indianapolis Chapter.
What is the profession’s top issue that needs to be addressed right now?
Adapting to emerging technology like artificial intelligence and blockchain. These tools will likely revolutionize how we work, and they require significant investment in training and integration. The challenge lies in ensuring the tools are leveraged effectively while also maintaining the human judgment element at the core of
our profession.
What particular strength will you bring to the board?
My passion for giving back to my community and profession drives me. I am excited to take my involvement with INCPAS to the next level. I’m looking forward to contributing to the Society’s many initiatives aimed at further strengthening and advancing the accounting profession in our state.
What role do you think individuals or organizations should play in shaping how technology evolves?
Individuals and organizations should strive to be early adopters, setting the pace for innovation within the accounting profession. Proactively exploring new technologies provides a competitive edge and helps shape industry best practices and standards.
Joel Githiri, CPA
Vice President of Finance – FitzMark
Joel is the vice president of finance at FitzMark LLC where he has been since 2019. In addition, he owns Edgewater Financial Group, a fractional CFO services consulting firm. Prior, he served in multiple leadership roles in accounting and finance operations since moving to Indianapolis in 2014. He started his career in Chicago at Grant Thornton LLP before taking on a management role at Morningstar, Inc. He holds dual degrees from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in Accounting and Finance and has been involved with multiple community-focused organizations over the years. He currently serves on boards for The Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY) and the Christel House Academy, and is the professional membership chair for the Indianapolis
NABA Chapter.
What is the profession’s top issue that needs to be addressed right now?
Staying relevant in an ever-evolving business landscape. That’s partly about keeping up with technology, but it’s also about expanding the value proposition of CPAs beyond compliance and historical reporting. Business owners and organizations of all sizes need strategic partners who understand data, risk and how to drive growth. Leaning into that advisory role, while still upholding the technical excellence and trust that have always defined us, will position our profession to be an important voice and guiding force across all industries.
What particular strength will you bring to the board?
I bring a unique blend of entrepreneurial, financial strategy, assurance and corporate accounting experience. I’ve built and led a fractional CFO firm, been involved in multiple business acquisitions, and helped clients navigate complex growth decisions. That gives me a perspective on what members need to thrive—not only from a technical standpoint, but also as business leaders. I also have a passion for fostering equitable opportunities, which I hope will help broaden how we think about talent and leadership pipelines.
Priya Singleton, CPA
Director – Blue & Co., LLC
Priya is a director on the Quality Control Team at Blue & Co., LLC, where she has been since 2014. Her experience includes more than 16 years in public accounting, focused primarily on the not-for-profit, health care, manufacturing and employee benefit plan industries. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and information management from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2005, and her master’s in professional accountancy from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas McCombs School of Business in 2006. She currently serves as a firm representative to the Center for Plain English Accounting and the Employee Plan Audit Quality Center at the AICPA.
What is the profession’s top issue that needs to be addressed right now?
As a quality control director in my firm, I see the biggest issue facing our profession right now as the ongoing talent shortage. It’s becoming harder to attract and retain people who want to pursue the CPA path, and that directly impacts our ability to maintain high standards and deliver quality work. Fewer candidates, combined with increasing complexity in our work, puts a lot of pressure on firms—especially when it comes to training, mentoring and ensuring compliance. We need to rethink how we present the profession to the next generation and make it more accessible, flexible, and aligned with what younger professionals are looking for.
What particular strength will you bring to the board?
I hope to bring a practical, firm-level perspective to the table. I deal with quality, compliance and risk every day, so I understand the challenges firms face in balancing high standards with competing demands on time, talent and capacity. I’m looking forward to contributing to conversations that help the profession evolve while still protecting the integrity and trust that define what we do.
Can you think of a moment when a piece of technology made a big impact on you?
Lately, I’ve been using Microsoft Copilot pretty regularly, and it’s made a big difference in how I work. It helps me get ideas down quickly, refine my thinking, and pressure-test my conclusions—especially when I’m dealing with complex standards! It’s also sharpened my critical thinking. I often use it to validate my understanding of a topic or to explore alternative perspectives before finalizing a position or recommendation.
Ashley Vukovits, CPA
CFO – Digible, Inc. and Co-Founder – LiftBridge CXO
Ashley recently joined Digible Inc. as CFO, and she also is the co-founder and managing director of LiftBridge CXO, where she has been since 2020. Prior, she served as CFO at Genesys Interactive Intelligence, vice president of finance at Union Acceptance Company, and senior supervisor at KPMG. She graduated from Miami University in 1992
with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. In the community, she currently is a board member and finance chair for the Indy Art Center and serves on the parish council and is the finance chair for her local church.
What is the profession’s top issue that needs to be addressed right now?
Given the decrease in young professional CPAs, we need to continue to look at ways to attract and retain the next generation of accountants. This is already a focus of the Indiana CPA Society board, and I look forward to joining the effort.
What particular strength will you bring to the board?
I bring a diverse and practical perspective to the Board, having worked in public accounting, served as a corporate CFO, and co-founded a fractional financial services firm. This range of experiences allows me to offer insights across firm, corporate and entrepreneurial settings—all aligned with supporting the evolving mission of the Indiana CPA Society.
How can we balance technological and personal skills?
AI and other emerging technologies are a part of my daily life, both professionally and personally. They are powerful tools that can enhance our work and productivity. However, they can’t replicate the human experience of judgment, empathy and trust. We must find the right balance of embracing innovation while preserving human connection.
