Chair's Perspective: Jennifer Knecht, CPA

Feb 1, 2020
INCPAS Board Chair Jennifer Knecht, CPA, shares her insights into INCPAS’ advocacy efforts and the current legislative session.

What will the Society be focusing on/monitoring during this legislative session?

During each legislative session, the Society monitors several biJennifer Knecht, CPAlls on behalf of the members. Of particular focus in this session, the Society will actively oppose licensure legislation that is not in the public interest and would be detrimental to CPAs’ ability to provide professional services to the organizations and clients whom they represent.

Have you personally been involved with INCPAS advocacy efforts?

In 2017, I had the honor of being present as Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed the Indiana CPA Society bill making Indiana the first state in the nation to write into law competency-based learning as an option for CPA license renewal. In addition, I also serve as an INCPAS CPA Advocate. The CPA Advocates program is a great way to become personally engaged in advocacy.

Why do you give to the Indiana CPA Political Action Committee?

I give to the Indiana CPA-PAC because it is important to make sure the profession has a voice in the public policy arena. No other PAC in Indiana is monitoring legislation on behalf of Indiana’s CPAs.
